What dog breeds have the worst doggie odor?
And, what breeds have the least amount of doggie odor?
I had a Cocker spaniel, he was the cutest thing but he STUNK no matter now many baths we gave him. Now, I am thinking of getting another dog.
I am thinking about getting a Doberman…they are very short haired, less stink right?

All dogs have a "doggie odor"…..purebreds, Heinz 57s, mutts, mongrels, curs and designer dogs…they all smell like dogs. Let them get wet or hot and the odor intensifies. When the cool down or dry, the odor becomes less noticeable. When they are nervous, the "doggie odor" is more noticeable.
Some dogs smell worse than others because of medical conditions….dental disease, demodectic mange, ear infections, open pyometra…..impacted anal glands….hot spots…etc.
A dog with an open wound with maggots in it will trigger my gag reflex and a dog that is matted and dirty with dingle berries hanging from his butt is nauseating. There are just different degrees of smell….that range from mild to rank.
There is no such canine that is odor free, hypoallergenic, non-shedding breed. They are all going to shed, smell and in sensitive individuals cause allergic reactions.
I will say this; probably the larger the dog the more odor emanates from it. That is like comparing a little 1 inch turd pooped by a Chihuahua to an entire load dumped by a Great Dane….there is just more to smell!
I personally don't find "doggie odor" offensive unless it is down right over powering! As a vet tech/pet sitter and a three dog owner, I probably smell like a dog most of the time myself!
If you want a dog that does not smell….by a stuffed dog.
