My dog appears to be in some sort of trouble when he has to jump. He now whines when he wants to jump. He can run and walk without any anxiety but has problems jumping only in the past week. I’m wondering what could be the problem?
My dog is 3 years old. It’s a chihuahua rat terrier mix.

  How old is he? It could be arthritis? Or he might have just sprained something…i would check with the vet, it couls be a lot of things…good luck

  sometimes when a dog jumps they too like humans can pull muscles or tear a tendon just as quick as we can, as a dog gets older they also suffer from arthritis as well and sometimes this can cause them pain on exertion such as jumping.if this problem should continue I would take the dog to the vet to be sure, give it a couple of days to see what hapens and then you should have more of an idea to explain to the vet what is happening, maybe leaving the dog inside with you for a few days would help good luck with the dog

  Maybe he has developed a back problem that is preventing him from jumping, or has a previous injury that is preventing him from jumping.

  The best way to find out what he has is to go to your veterinarian. You might want to go there as soon as possible as it may be something serious and i am sure you care enough about your dog to help him. :]

  Check with a vet. It could be a number of joint disorders. If he’s an older dog, it could be arthritis. Rimidyl is great in helping to manage the pain.

  I dont think its so much anxiety but rather a desire to please you but still being unsure about what you want him to do. Ive seen a lot of dogs do that when presented with the objective to jump. Just pick him up if you can and show him what you want him to do. He’ll figure it out eventually. Just be patient
