What are the symptoms and treatment for a dog with worms?

I have three dogs. Two of my dogs are newer to the family and haven't had they're shots. But today when I went to see them in their house I noticed that one of them was throwing up and both of them weren't eating when I fed them. I noticed when I looked in Sampson's throw up they're was a white worm. I wanted to know what was the worm. And if stress causes the worms to effect they're system more. I gave them heart worm medicine a few months ago but they're not eating and looking kind of skinny. I just love my dogs a lot and need to know what to do.

    Prevention is better than cure!! You can buy all-in-one flea, tick and deworming spot-on treatments from your vet or pet store. This should be done regularly as a normal part of looking after your dogs. The same goes for having vaccinations – it is part of the job.

    It is very important that if your dog is over 6 months old you DO NOT use heart worm treatment until your dog has been checked by a vet. If your dog is heartworm positive then the treatment can kill it.

    Keep an eye on the dog concerned and if it keeps vomitting seek help from your vet. If it has vomitted more than once then don't feed it for the next 24 hours. Let its stomach have a chance to settle and then start on small portions. Keep plenty of fresh water around.

    As for the skinniness and not wanting their food, try feeding them better food and when you take them to the vet TOMORROW for their shots get him/her to check them over.

    why do people always come on here looking for common sense answers? TRY THE VET, THAT IS IF YOU WANT YOUR DOGS TO LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It mostly because they ate wrong things or they don't like the fod u gave them. You'll always need to keep some grass or something around. My mom has 5 gard dogs lil diff from house dogs but their all dogs. I when the dogs are nt eating food I found them eating grass, when I ask my mom told me they eat it to thow up the bad thing they eat they know how to heal them selfs. And I was supprised a lil. So I'm telling u to try it it might work.

    There are different types of worms that dogs can get and different symptoms. If your dogs are looking thin and vomiting then it's hight time that you consult a real, bonafide vet. Also, in order for heartworm medication to be effective, it's usually given every month, without skipping months in between.

    Please, take your dogs to the vet; let the expert help your dogs.
