Is there any way to tell the difference between maggots and worms in dog poop?

I have 3 dogs and found worms in the poop.I took them to the vet and wormed all 3 because I didn’t know which one it was. The worms are white and look like rice. About two weeks later I noticed them again… wormed them again with cestex. It’s about a week later and there are still worms. About 20 seconds after the worms touch air they die, could they just be maggots? I’m tired of worrying. Need help!!!!

    They are definitely worms and not maggots. It is possible that your dogs have another type of worm. I believe cestex is specifically for tapeworms so you may need to try another deworming product (drontal – another deworming product). They could be rounds, whips, hooks… so consult with your vet.

    Maggots do not like poo. They like flesh.

    You won’t find maggots in dog poop. You can find them in open wounds. They’re probably roundworms and will need another round of deworming.

    If you’ve wormed them twice, I would call a vet. They are not maggots, and they are coming from inside, for sure.

    Worms are long and yellow`ish and like to be a parasite in your dog`s body, maggots are short and white and like to eat flesh and other roting things, but not poop. Worm your dogs every week, take him to the vet again please. I have no idea whats wrong with your dog(s) but you need to find out, sorry I can`t help more.

    Worms that tend to be shiny and rice-like in size, could be tapeworms. Roundworms are white and long, spaghetti-like (sorry for referencing food for each of these. Maggots don’t usually find themselves in poop, but they are smaller and not necessarily as shiny as the tapeworms. Bring a fecal sample to the vet.

    Those are tapeworms. The dogs are going to need to be treated 3 times. Also clean up the poop right away. The dogs can ingest the poop and the worms all over again. The medicine is suppose to expel the worms so you are going to see them even after the dogs are medicated. Just make sure you have them de-wormed 3 times.
