Is the worm treatment at stores good to treat worms in your dog?

I found a puppy and posted him missing but he has worms and I didn’t plan to have a pet but I wont send him to one of hese animal places cause i think he has some pit in him and they kill the dogs after a month ot two. So i am looking to keep the dog health and in good shape. When I found it in my yard it was in my trash he was hungry and right now I am just doing what is right so please if you know the answer help a girl out?

    Over the Counter wormers are not very effective because they don’t kill a specific parasite. Your vet can examine your dogs feces and determie what kind of worms he has and what to treat them with.Also, your new puppy needs a series of shots to prevent him from getting diseases such as distemper and parvo. I am glad you rescued this little puppy and are willing to give him a healthy start. Good luck to you

    The wormers that you buy in the store are really not effective. You can take a stool sample to the Vet so they can determine the proper treatment for the type of worm. Tell the Vet office that you found the dog eating from the trash can in your yard, and you just want to do what is right for the dog. Some Vets will give you a big discount under these circumstances.

    The wormer from the store is not specific or very effective.

    See if you can find a low cost spay/neuter clinic in your area – call your local Humane Society and ask them for a reference to one.
    They also vaccinate and deworm dogs, and your dog will need all that. A stool sample is required to identify the particular parasite (worm) the dog has and the right dewormer needs to be given.

    This doesn’t have to be all that expensive, a low cost clinic will vet, deworm and neuter/spay quite reasonably and then you will have a healthy, happy companion pet.
    Good of you to take this little pup in, and you are right, county shelters like Animal Services do euthanize most pits and pit mixes – not in months, in days, so this little guy is lucky you found him.
    Do the best you can for him, I am very sure he will reward you with all his love and trust – that’s a bargain, believe me.

    I have never used the in-store brands. I would suggest taking the dog to the vet; take a sample of his feces. The vet can examine it to see if the dog has worms. I also use heartgaurd on my dog. You have to get this from the vet.

    If you plan on keeping this dog as your pet you should have him checked out. Some worms, and diseases can kill a dog if not treated; it would be heartbreaking to get attached to the dog & then he die of something that easily could have been prevented. He will also need to get vaccinated for rabies. So just spend the money and take him to the vet.

    wormers from the strore dont work, take it to a vet and get a prescription wormer
