Do you mean heart worm prevention? HeartGuard is safe to use every month. However, dogs don’t need heart worm medicine unless they are at high risk (around mosquitoes). It is an absolute if you live in the South.
If you mean worms like tape, round…your dog should only need a yearly dose of worming medicine. The meds in the store don’t work, get it from the vet.

I use Interceptor and my mom uses it with her show dogs as well.
Any medication has risks, bu the risk of heartworm infection is higher to most people and vets than risks posed by the medication.
A lot of breeders and show people will use ivermectin(rather than a commercial heartworm preventative) so that they can more closely match the amount of medication to the weight of their dogs, but they still give the medication. If you are concerned about the medication, ask your vet to help you figure this out.
