I have a big problem with our dog he’s a Bichon frise. He refuses to potty train we bring him outside often he pees then he holds it to do other business in our area we keep him.GRRRR
Then we wakes my husband up every weekend early when he has health problems and need to sleep.I’m pregnent and I work for the Army so my husband lets me sleep.
Have any suggustions please and thanks :)

    maybe you shouldnt keep the dog it sounds like your really busy and just dont have time for a dog, I am sure someone would love to have him. Now if you decide you have to keep the dog the best way i have found to house break is keep the dog in a kennel when you are gone or even at night the dog will not want to poop or pee in his bed.     How old is the dog? Young puppies need to be let out often to give them plenty of chances to go in the right place. When she pees outside praise him like crazy! Also, very young dogs don’t have the bladder control to hold it through the whole night. If your puppy is under 4 months, chances are it’s just a maturity thing that will get better with age.

    These dogs are high maintance and tend to be a little jealous too. I would suggest getting a professional to work with him before the baby gets here. because you guys don’t have the time to train him right now and you definitely won’t have it when the baby gets here. I raise boxers and let me tell ya training a dog is a 24/7 job.

    This all depends on how young this dog is, if its older, but you have had his since he was a puppy, the potty training was never enforced, it sounds to be for some reason that the dog thinks its okay to potty in ” his area” you can not dicipline him for going in his area unless you catch him in the act!!! thats the key then you bring him directly outside, when he goes outside praise and give a treat. If its a puppy younger than 4 months it cant conciously hold it. do bare with the training. Also kennel training will help out a dog will usually not go where it sleeps, so instead of putting him in an area, put him in a kennel. This will all take time, he will wine and cry, the potty training will also take time, small dogs are the hardest to potty train. Also try and enclosed dog yard outside but close to the house where you can let him in and out, outside so he doesnt bother you to much, this will allow him to get out some energy.
    You need to take him on walks, it sounds like you all are very busy and pregant and working. Your last resourt might be finding a home that has time for him. But that is always the last resort!!!

    try crating him at night and move his area to another part of the house praise him when he goes outside. when he goes out leave him a little longer outside.

    Try giving your dog a treat when he goes outside. That will teach him going outside is a good thing. And if he holds it to just go potty inside spat him gently (dont want to hurt him just startle him) with a news paper then take him back outside. Even though he gets in trouble of going inside if he even goes a little outside again give him another treat. He should soon learn that Out is good, In is bad. For the weekend thing, if hes doing it needing to go outside its because he is a little dog and has held in in all night. I have a golden retriever and he wakes me up early needing to go out.

    My dog did the same. We only let her out when we woke up three times during the day then before we went to bed. She got in habit with this and didnt pee in the house. If she did though we let her outside and tell her no. If she has to go use the restroom really bad and cant wait she sits by the door and “talks” She sounds like a pig trying to talk. Now as she two years old she got in habit or the shedule, but you have to pateint and work with him. If he doesnt listen to you then you could always get him trained at pet co or something.

    Have you tried formal training? They offer it at Petsmart. If that is not something you want to do then sadly the only other way I have heard is to be vigilant and watch him for the signs he is about to go; sniffing for a spot, squatting, etc. When you see he is about to have an accident shake a can of coins, or some other loud noise (no yelling) to stop him. Take him out wait for it then reward him with a treat immediately. If you are hitting him or rubbing his face in it etc STOP!! It will make him scared to go outside because he knows you are looking for potty there.
    Also keep in mind he is a little dog who will have to go a lot!!

    This is common for this breed. Some dogs are born like this and pee anyway but the right spot. Maybe you should try leaving your dog outside in the pee area for a while. Soon the dog will have to go to the bathroom and go there in the spot. keep doing this untill your dog learns to go in this spot. It takes alot of time training these Bichon’s, but it’s worth it in the long run.

    ok so just try to have a schedule for your dog and make sure it is not too long of a period before letting your dog out!
    The best is at least 3 timesss a day!

    hThe first question is is he just peeing inside or doing all of his business inside? If its only pee then you should get him checked out by a vet for a possible medical reason for this like a UTI. If its both then it may be a behavioral problem. Crate training is a very useful tool to help with this and i would do some research on how to do it properly before you start. When he is outside of his crate keep him on a leash tied to your belt loopso that he can’t sneak around the corner and go when you arent looking. By being right by you you can correct the problem when it is happening and also learn his signal for letting you know he has to go out. Not all dogs are vocal, some pace, some circle and some just go lay by the door. And don’t forget to reward him with treats and praise when he does go outside!

    He is owning your house by doing that and marking his territory where you keep him! Right when he pees clean it up and keep him outside left alone around a fence so he cant grrrrr at anything or anybody.! If you dont have a fence up you should think about getting one. Taking him for walks on a daily basis would be good for those problems. Right when you think its time for him to use it, take him outside or for a walk!

    When a dog is doing its business so randomly like that, it usually means that they are angry at somebody. Now, what came first, the chicken or the egg? That doesn’t much matter! You seem to be angry (GRRRR) at the dog indicated by your tone and understandably, by your circumstances. I’m sure the dog picks this up. So, since your circumstances and your attitude do not seem like they are going to change anytime soon, I would strongly suggest, for both your sakes, that you find another home for the dog. We had a similar circumstance (I suffer with chronic and progressively debilitating health problems as well), and the same eventual realization. We had bought a real cute Yorkshire Terrier male puppy (we love dogs so much that we can’t help ourselves) that we tried to introduce into our household with a female Miniature Schnauzer and a female Poodle already entrenched in our family fiber. The other two could not get used to this little male puppy’s aggressive ways, and the friction was constant. The little puppy continued to make all over the place! It reached a point that we were getting so angry with the puppy for his inadvertant infringement on our previous domestic tranquility, that it became a viscious cycle. That being, the dog would pee on the carpet, we’d react angrily, and then he’d pee even moreso the next time. We recognized that we were not going to ever make anyone happy, so we found the dog another home! Good Luck!!
