I have a two year old Shih-Tzu and she has sixty toys with a few missing. Are these too many for a single dog? How many does your dog have?

    WAY too many.. You should take about 52 of those and put them away.. Every week or so switch up and bring out a new set of 8 different toys… She’ll think that she has hit the mother lode getting new toys every week, or will be totally excited to see something that she thought she had lost!

    Lol your doggy may be a bit spoiled, but you can never have too many toys for your dog. If they love them they’ll play with them. If its too space consuming, you may want to get rid of the ones she doesn’t play with. Lol I have a German Shepherd Lab mix that has about 11 toys. But he loves them all. ^^

    There is no such thing as too many toys! My dog have over 50 toys.

    Just like a kid, they just dont play with that many toys. My dog has 3! As long as you play with the dog, they could have one toy for all they care. Give up the extras to a shelter, those dogs need toys. Keep 5 at the most.Like I said, if you play with the dog,like a child, its not the toy that matters, they get bored, its your company.

    my dog, honestly has… 1 pull rope thingy, 2 balls, and 2 frisbees. I’ve also heard that it is not good to have too many toys… but if you feel like you absolutely HAVE to have alot of toys, just buy a huge basket, and put all of it’s toys in there. If it takes them out of the basket, train it not to do so. Hope this helps alot :) BYE!!!!!!!

    mine has 1 tennis ball, 1 black kong, and a red tug ring. i’d get him more, but he destroys everything else. he’s a mini dach, with the jaws of a rotti! good lord!

    i’d go with the first answerer. take some away, then re-introduce them, a little at a time.

    My dogs have over 30 lost count but they play with them all, let them play with the toys that way they leave the furniture alone,lol

    I don’t think that’s too many ,but your dog is very lucky to have an owner like your self!!

    Maybe next time you have the urge to buy some more toys you could donate one or two to the animal shelter!!

    As we all know you an awesome mommy to this dog and I am sure she waits for you with a wagging tail and a big smile!!!

    A good idea would be to put some away for a while and then bring them out after
    awhile. Your puppy will think that they are brand new. Just keep swapping them
    back and forth. She doesn’t really need any more.

    well, 60 might be a few to many. does she play with all of them? or do most of them just sit in a toy box? my dog has lots of toys. but i keep only about 5 or 6 out at a time. change the toys that she mostly ignores once a week or so. that way she gets use out of them. and she thinks she has a new toy. she is mostly into stuffed animals that she can shake the innerds out of. dont like squeeky toys. her favorites are kiki (kitty) moomoo(cow) santa(small stuffed santa, and pinky( a pink something or other.)

    I have two rat terriers they have one of those I’d say a medium sized Rubbermaid containers full of them. Every spring when we have rummage sale or I buy a few I always get rid of a few and either donate them to my local animal shelter or sell them on my rummage sale. I would agree with DP’s answer. But I wouldn’t get rid of any just maybe do what the suggestion was to bring out a few for a few weeks then put those away and then bring out different ones and so on. I personally leave all ours out, but thinking I might try this sometime. They do play with the toys now the way I got them out for them but just thinking maybe this way they’d play with them more often. Personally I say you can’t ever have enough toys I love to spoil ours every time I go shopping.

    Wow, that is one lucky Shih-Tzu. lol. Sixty may be too many, unless he really likes playing with all of them, (which I doubt). I’d put most of them away for now, and then when he wears out his toys, (which, if he’s anything like my dogs, he will), replace them with the stash.

    My two dogs have a red Kong, an old tennis ball, and a rawhide bone each. We have to constantly be replacing the rawhide bones, because they chew them to death. In about 2 months there’s nothing left of them! We don’t really buy a lot of toys for them. A lot of the time we just use an empty toilet paper roll for our puppy, which she absolutely loves. The adult dog, well, he’s not as easy to please, but sometimes he’ll play with an empty oatmeal canister.

    My dogs get new toys every 2 or 3 days, they’re mostly bully breeds and break them fast, They probably have even more then your dog, they’re very spoiled but hey, it keeps them occupied.
