How do u know if ur dog has worms?

How do you know if your dog has worms? I have a 4 month old male yorkie. I purchased my dog 3 weeks ago and was told told that he had his shots. My sister just informed me he had worms in his stool. Is this possible? Could it be something else? Plz help!!!
If he does have worms will the vet need to keep him over night or can he come home?

    You should just consider that all puppies have worms, and have your vet automatically give them some de-wormer. Then in two weeks take a stool sample to the vet to see if it contains any larva. If you did not get the pups shot record, get another booster to make sure.
    Every pup should also automatically have a check up by a vet to assure it's good health.

    Shots don't get rid of worms. The only way to confirm what type of worms is to take a stool sample to your vet. Probably about $20 for the test

    If you have never dewormed him, then chances are he has worms. Go to the vets and get some tablets based on his weight (and age – ask the vet for advice). Administer as prescribed. Repeat every 4 to 6 months.

    Shots protect from diseases, not worms.
    If you are seeing white worms, about 3-4 inches long, then you have round worm.
    If you are seeing white worms, about 1 /2-3 iches long that shrivel down to a grain of rick when dry, then you have tape worm. Tape worm is caused by the bite of a flea.
    Hook worm would not be visible.
    Pet store wormer containing Pyrantel will kill the round.
    Praziquantel will kill tape.

    Okay first you can know because her belly will be big and hard, sometimes you will find dead ones in the stool. Very easy fix take a stool sample to vet and they will give you a needle or pill or a chemical on his neck, if he has them. Don't worry it's very normal in a puppy. Pups should be dewormed anyways a few times even if the show no signs of worms and it's not really expensive. Vet will not keep puppy for more then a few minutes to administer de wormer

    Just worm the dog. You can get a pyrantel product at the store. You just have to keep him on a regular worming schedule.
