How can you tell if your dog worms are dangerous to humans and what type they are?

Can I fix this myself or do I have to take them to the vet. I have a pit that's about a month or two old.

    Any puppy, no matter if it came from a breeder or a shelter, should be taken to the vet for a basic exam within 48 hours of getting it.

    for your specific question:
    Take the puppy to the vet. get a fecal done. get the puppy dewormed based on the types of eggs found in the fecal. Then have the vet start with puppy vaccines. The vet should be a normal part of any healthy, growing puppy's life.

    BUT for your own information, the most common worms that you will see in feces or vomit are roundworms and tapeworms. Roundworms look like spaghetti. Tapeworms can be either long and flat like ribbon, or if they are small, they look like grains of rice. Tapeworms can infect humans if you ingest them or the eggs. I'm not sure about roundworms.

    You can get dewormer over the counter, but honestly, you need to go to the vet. Your puppy probably needs shots as well. Be a responsible owner and do what's best for your dog.

    you can look them up online to find out what they are type in "parasitic worms". but if your dog has worms you need to get him to a vet nd get him on meds, they can be very very bad for any animal, and really need to be taken care of.

    Take your dog to the vet, odds are they'll check to see if your dog is positive for worms, and most parasites can cuase a lot of damage. The vet may give you a perscription, follow the instructions carefully. Most worms can't be spread from dog to human.

    All parasitic worms that dogs become infested with are transferable to humans – usually from their saliva when being licked about the face. You can pick up worming medication @ any pet shop & many grocery stores. I prefer Shell's Wormer, but there are many other suitable brands on the market. Never worm a dog unless there is an infestation as the meds are toxic & tough on a pup but sadly sometimes it is necessary. Good luck

    As others have suggested you should always take a puppie for his first visit to the Vet asap when you get them home. Shot worming and a general exam is crucial to the wellness of the Pup. You can purchase dewormer for your pup but what's the point when for a few bucks more you'll have the satisfaction that your new family member has a proper start.

    Take your dog to the vet. With the new puppie visit they almost always do a DE-worming anyway, Plus he will need shot and a fecal exam.
