how can u tell if ur dog has worms?

My dog is 4 yrs old. And My aunt says she has worms, because she said if your dog drags her butt on the floor a lot of times, then it has worms. Is this true? if not what could it be? And what are signs of worms?

p.s. Shes’s an indoor dog.

    No, that’s not necessarily true. Sometimes dogs drag their butts on the floor because their anal glands are full and need to be expressed.

    You take a stool sample to the vet to be tested. If your dog’s dragging her butt on the floor, perhaps she needs to go to the vet to have her anal glands drained.

    well if its worms she should have a scabs some where. she is trying to wipe her butt. you should clean her anal glands

    take it to the vet, they’ll give the dog meds to poop out the worms

    Dragging the but usually has more to do with anal glands than worms…especially at that age. Take a stool sample to the vet and have them check the glands they might need to be squeezed.

    You can take your dog to the vet but you can also give her a snack and wait for her to poop and if you see little white wiggly things those are worms also if she drags her butt on the floor its a sign.

    Sometimes you can see the worms in the dog’s feces, but sometimes you can’t… depends on the species of worms that he has.

    Another reason your dog might be dragging its rear is full anal glands. Some dogs have a problem that causes their anal glands (just inside the anus) to become inflamed and filled with fluid that must be drained. Your vet can "express" the anal glands for you. It’s a simple, very common treatment. It’s not painful for the dog, and it’s always very inexpensive (about $10-15).

    P.S. – If your dog is on a monthly heartworm preventative (like Heartgard), that will protect from most intestinal parasites, such as worms. You should have your dog heartworm checked and on heartworm preventative if he’s not already on it.

    Take them to the vet. Either get a stool sample or they will do it themselves at the vet.
    The doctor at my vet also said you can see the worms in their poop.
