Help with Dog(chihuahua) illness?

I have a chihuahua that’s been living with me for about 5years now. He has this weird problem. Like a month or something, he stands still, can’t breathe then fall onto the ground. I have to do cpr on him. Do you know why it’s happening to him? We took him to the doctor, and the doctor said he doesn’t know anything about that illness.
well, it might be a seizure, but the vet said that something was wrong with his lungs. How does a seizure look like?

    wow i have never heard of anything like that you make need to go around to some different vets cuz that’s serious! what would happen if you weren’t home and he collapses? that’s awful i hope u find someone who can help you out with your dog!

    IF I understand correctly, my vet told me it was seizures…U don’t really need to do cpr, but just watch, keep her/him company, and rub gently for support. Then, when it is over, water and rest. You may never be able to get your vet to see it, so you may not get a Rx for the condition…and my vet said she was so small, she may just sleep all the time after medicine. I dealt with it for two years. She was happy and playful but for those incidents…If you keep track of the exact time, each time, you can sometimes predict them too. Good luck. Pets are so precious

    I would ask my vet if he thought it was some kind of a seizure or maybe heart-related. Are you reasonably certain that the dog won’t recover without CPR? Has the dog had a blow to his head? Chihuahuas get brain damage very easily. Brain damage can cause a dog to do a variety of strange things, seizures included. Maybe you need a new vet.

    I’d find another vet. Most often, it’s a seizure, and any decent vet would be able to identify that. The seizures will get progressively worse if you don’t get him on medication. When he has a seizure, the best thing to do is stand back til it passes. It’s not the cpr that’s bringing him back, seizures are short in duration, typically lasting only a few minutes.

    You need to find a vet that knows about chihuahuas. This sounds like a serious problem and the vet saying he doesn’t know is not acceptable. Good luck.
