has anyone tried using organic apple cider vinegar to repel dog fleas?

I found a couple of helpful sites stating that putting a few drops of ACV on the dog’s drinking water and giving the dog an ACV spray will help repel fleas. Please do not suggest using spot ons as i have already tried it.
i have also heard of using garlic but does this cause anemia?

    I have never tried the apple cider vinegar, but I have mixed some garlic powder from the health food store into my dog’s food with some warm water and the garlic seems to repel the fleas. I don’t know if it will work to get rid of them if they are already on the dog, but it seems to work as prevention. Hope this helps.

    I just sprayed a light coating of regular white vinegar onto my dogs this past summer and then rubbed it in a bit. It seemed to work, the neighbors dogs were infested with the vile creatures while my two were not. I didn’t apply it too often out of fear of the vinegar causing a reaction with their skin.

    Edit: I’ve also tried the garlic powder in their food, but it gave my larger dog the worst gas so I quit giving it to him.

    Over the counter flea medications simply don’t work as well as the *real* stuff. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money, and gotten a lot of bug bites before I just gave up and bought the prescriptions stuff from the vet. You know what? I could have saved a lot of time and money had I just gone to the vet and gotten some Frontline or Advantage in the first place. Fleas are how your dogs get worms, by the way. Just go to the vet and get the stuff that works.

    I use garlic and brewers yeast in pill form. I also soak my dogs collars in essential oil of Lavender. A healthy diet and immune system also helps to repel fleas as well. Marigolds planted in your yard can help keep fleas and ticks away as well.

    I have heard of ACV for horses with major fly issues, but not for fleas, but something to try out.
    I use the spot on for with my dogs.
    I was researching and this site to me was interesting.

    Ah, but WHICH spot-ons have you tried? They’re all different, so you can’t try a few and say none work! I can however tell you that NO flea spot-on that you can buy in a pet store will work, because stores aren’t licensed to sell the stuff that works against fleas. You have to get you flea treatment from a vets – Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate.

    Don’t even bother with anything like apple cider vinegar or garlic, I can tell you right now it won’t work.
