Can my older dog get worms from my puppy?

My 2 year old dog is on Interceptor monthly. My new puppy has been dewormed and is passing worms in his poop (I have been cleaning it up from the yard). Can my older dog get worms if he is on Interceptor?

    The tapeworm cycle begins with the flea larvae eating fecal matter that contains tapeworm eggs.

    The eggs hatch inside the flea and become cysticercoids.

    A dog may then swallow a flea that contains these cysticercoids while chewing or biting at an itchy area on it's skin.

    Once the flea passes into the dog's intestine the flea is broken down and the cysticercoids develop into an adult

    so it isnt contageouse unless your dog happens to swallow one i know thats gross but its not that likely to hapen i dont think

    As long as you are diligent about giving the Interceptor each month, your older dog should be fine.

    If you are still concerned simply drop off a fecal sample to verify at your vet's office.

    The good news is: if your dog does test positive for intestinal parasites then Novartis (maker of Interceptor) will completely pay for all treatment since you have reported your dog is on Interceptor each month. Novartis backs their products 100%.

    if your older dog has been wormed then it should be covered and will not get worms, if your puppy has just been wormed then the worms it is passing should be dead and will pose no threat
