Can I use cat flea medicine on my dog?

I have a box of topical formula Revolution for cats (cat has run away) and I now have a chihuahua. Can I use this medicine on my dog and would it work?

    I would say look on the box and see what is says. I know some flea medicines for dogs say do not use on cats, so the box would be your best bet.

    Just yesterday on Emergency Vets was a women with this VERY problem. Because the dosage is different and for other reasons she nearly killed her dog by giving it the cat’s flea medication. DO NOT DO IT!!!!!! The dog survived but it was touch and go for a while.

    Go ahead, use it. Make sure you have another Chihuahua on reserve just in case.

    The Vet I work for does not use Revolution so I am not familiar with the product. Your Vet should be able to tell you if it is OK to use the cat Revolution on the dog. I know that with Front line the medication is not different, it is just the amount that you can use based on their weight. Just make sure the Vet tells you it is OK because if the medication is different and there is something in there that can not be used on dogs your dog could potentially die.
