Can garlic water be used to kill dog worms?
I have a puppy i recently bought and yesterday when he pooped a worm like this one http://www.beaglesunlimited.com/Photos/CanineRoundworms.jpg
came out
i was told by someone that if i boil a garlic in water for about 10 or 15 minutes and then gave the water to my dog(when it cools down of course) it can kill the worms so is it true?
IM NOT GOING TO DO THAT TO MY DOG
IM GOING TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET TOMORROW MORNING TO GET A CHECK UP AND ALL HIS SHOTS
SO IM JUST WONDERING IF ITS TRUE
LIKE I SAID IM NOT GOING TO DO IT TO MY DOG I WAS JUST ASKING
AND I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE WATER USED TO BOIL THE GARLIC NOT THE GARLIC ITSELF

Well that's good that you are going to the vet. Take the worms to whomever made up this joke and whip them with it. Then dump the garlic water on them. Besides the roundworms…pups also get hookworms, whipworms and takeworms. The Vet will get rid of them all. IT'S GROSS and you will see a LOT of those worms!

No, Garlic does not kill worms or fleas or anything. That's an old wives tale.

I give my dog Brewer's Yeast with garlic, especially made for animals. And yes it works.

Garlic is actually very poisonous to dogs. It can kill them vary quickly. Those are round worms, in case you were wondering. They are fairly common in puppies. Thank you for asking about this, before trying it.

That is a Roundworm, very easily treated, it becomes an emergency only if your pet is so full of them that they begin to vomit them. Once your get has treated the worms you will begin to see more in stool, but dead, that is a good response.
They should test the stool because where theres one worm there are usually more! Most of which cannot be detected by sight with out a microscope.
Just be sure to wash your hands after handling stool and clean your pets rear well if any reminents left because Roundworms are Zooinotic,(spelling) contagious to people!

It's raw garlic that will help to de-worm, and also will keep fleas and ticks away. You need to be very careful when feeding it as many dogs can't have too much. Here's a link to recommended dosages:

Thank Goodness you aren't going to try this! Somebody is CHEAP! Go to your vet! onions are Toxic to dogs and garlic isnt good for them either. too dangerous to mess with measurements. any risk with my dogs is too big a risk!

There happens to be much controversy on garlic and whether or not it is good for pets. If you are wanting to explore holistic alternatives I suggest that you visit a holistic veterinarian. This would be a doctor with DVM plus training and experience using alternative methods. I personally agree with alternative methods but only when performed and recommended by a holistic veterinarian. Otherwise, never, ever just take our word for it, see a professional. Good luck at the vet, I am sure your pup just has round worms, that is what the pic looks like to me. No big deal, but your pup does need to be treated.

wait to take him to the vet and make sure the vet knows so the vet can do something about the worms but if u haven't told ur vet then go to walmart or the pet store and get wormer stuff to get rid of the worms.

I can't imagine any of my dogs drinking garlic water.
They will hardly drink tap water if it smells of chlorine or fluoride.
And I have never ever heard of garlic curing worms….unless this a hound of the Baskervilles!

I have heard of giving garlic to cut down the worms, but being this is a puppy he probably got the worms from mommy, the best treatment is the vet, to do it right, garlic, can slow the process down, but not on a little puppy………..ask the vet if it is true, or research it on the internet

no my aunts a vet she said that just makes it worse by the steam making them multiplie more i dont get it but thats hwat she says!
