Baking soda to wash my dog beds?

I already wash the bedding once a month, and bathe my babies regularly. Its not a matter of diet or health…….
That being said, can I use baking soda in the wash with the dog beds to give them a deodorizing boost?

If so, for only two beds, how much do I use? Can I use my detergent too? How about fabric softener? Do I need to do an extra rinse to get it all out? Any draw backs to using it on dog bedding?

Thankyou!!!
Dot: How much? do I add it to the wash with soap, or to the rinse cycle?
