How to prevent yourself from creating aggression in your dog
All dogs will have some form of aggression in them. After all, they are animals. The good news is that you can control the dog from growing up with an aggressive personality.
1. When first buying your puppy, do not take it home too soon. Tearing the puppy away too early from its mother will be the base for aggression in the future. Unless you are prepared to act as a surrogate mother to your puppy, leave it with its mother until a qualified breeder advises it is ok to separate the two.
2. Create confidence in your dog by having it socialize with other dogs and people. Children are especially perfect to have your dog accustomed to being with. Just like people, dogs that have confidence will not create aggression.
3. Keep your dog from getting into the habit of creating “ownership” of items like a room in the house or a special toy. Allowing your dog to be territorial will breed aggression.
4. Last but not least, do not abuse your dog by implementing harsh punishment. Avoid all types of hitting at all cost.
Once your dog is trained in obedience, it will rarely develop an aggression problem. Once you have established yourself as the dominant alpha of the house, your dog will be secure enough not to need to prove anything.
